What Customers Say About HP Pavilion DV9920US 17-inch Laptop (2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL-60 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium):

2 months out of warranty and HP will do nothing. Has had problems off and on ever since I bought it until yesterday I was doing an update that HP recommended and the computer crashed. HP is complete garbage. I purchased this laptop in Sept. 2008. I also purchased a different HP laptop at the same time last year and its hard drive crashed about 2 months ago and the printer I also purchased just had to be replaced as well.
Instead of the right Shift key being the normal double size key located directly below the Enter key, the space is now occupied by the Up Arrow key, while the right Shift is a single size key located below and to the left of the Enter key. If you are a touch typist, DO NOT BUY this computer. You will constantly hit the "up arrow" key when you want to capitalize and then shift your typing to the line above; it is very frustrating.
This is my 2nd HP Pavilion laptop and I have noticed with both that after a month or so, there is a little play in the screen hinge. All I have to say is that this laptop has stood up well to the amount of abuse I put it through. It is a little loose, but everything about the system functions properly and I could not be happier.
I wish I had. Save yourself alot of trouble. Touching the volume bar would still hang the operating system up for two to three minutes. It came out of the box, and was very slow to boot up. It came back five days later, scratched, speaker grille lifted, and it DID work better upon bootup, but could not play video - No way - No How. Their unexplainably awfull customer service, and failure to repair this poorly designed Laptop made me RUN to another brand.
Do some research on HP's customer service before buying. The screen pauses for what seemed like anything you want it to do. Long story short, after 28 successive emails to HP customer service online, I needed to send it to service. After hours of "HP award winning service".(India) and nobody being able to say my name correctly, I conceeded and sent it to them. My thirty day exchange was now up, so I pleaded my case to the store I purchased it, and they let me return it for full credit towards another Laptop. The sound breaks up when a CD is started, and my optional TV tuner played like a set of still photos. I purchased this Laptop on christmas eve 2008.
I noticed when opening Mediacenter, it paused and the sound crackled. (NON HP/Compaq for the first time in over ten years)The computers specs all say it should fly.It don't, believe me.It don't.
Hoping this one will not disappointment me as the last product I bought on amazon for warm winter jacket.
